Water tussle: Punjab,Haryana to be approached to find solution for UT

With Punjab and Haryana involved in a tussle as a result of which additional water is not being released to Chandigarh,it was decided that the state governments be approached to find a solution.

With Punjab and Haryana involved in a tussle as a result of which additional water is not being released to Chandigarh,it was decided that the state governments be approached to find a solution. The decision was taken at a meeting held on Tuesday.

The Mayor,along with the Municipal Commissioner,held a meeting with the UT Advisor where several issues were discussed. With summers approaching,there will be a need for additional water. During peak summers,the gap between demand and supply increases.

The proposal of the MC to start Phase V and VI of Kajauli in order to get additional water has been hitting roadblocks with the governments of Punjab and Haryana being at loggerheads over the issue. It was discussed that the state governments should be approached so that the issue is settled at the earliest.

The issue of House Tax was also discussed at the meeting.
