Voters and winners await post-poll celebrations on and off PU campus

After the college principals and Deans announced election results,the winning college student organisations were all set for post-poll parties and celebrations

After the college principals and Deans announced election results,the winning college student organisations were all set for post-poll parties and celebrations. While the student voters are awaiting the promised college trips around the city and tours to hill stations,the party candidates are busy chalking out plans.

Deepak Singh,SDHU,CU president at SD College,Sector 32 said,“Our day started with a huge rally after the results were announced and later there was lot of dance on the dhols. We wanted to book a resto bar for the evening party but couldn’t do it. So I took all my friends to my farm house. As promised,we will organise a one-day college trip soon.”

The SOPU party president at SGGS College Sector 26,Gurjant Sandhu,who won the elections by a narrow margin,was also busy organising victory parties for students and friends. He said,“After the election results,our day was quite long as our celebrations were huge and special. Our party contested the elections for the first time and managed to win it. After the results,our co-ordinator booked a club and we went for a party. We organised around five parties in the evening and another party is organised at JW Marriott for Thursday evening.”

The winning party at the SGGS College has also planned for a college trip to Amritsar. The president said,“We will go to Amritsar by next week. We are just waiting for the principal’s signature.”

After the elections,the city girls’ colleges were also seen in celebration mode. Navreet Kaur,president at Government College for Girls,Sector 11 gave a pizza party to her college mates and hostellers. She said,“Being a hosteller,there was no other alternative other than to give a pizza party since we couldn’t move out. I am waiting for a party outside the campus on the weekend.”

Meanwhile,Amandeep Singh Chehel,SOPU president at DAV College,Sector 10 said,“Winning the elections after four years uplifted our spirits. We took out a rally through Sector 8,10 and 11 and then organised a party at the Chandigarh Club.”
