Vendor thrashed after refusing to pay ‘gratification fees’

A vendor,based in Sector 15,Salim Khan,has alleged police inaction against a resident of Sector 15,Sita Ram who had allegedly thrashed Khan following his refusal to pay “gratification fees” of Rs 300 per week.

A vendor,based in Sector 15,Salim Khan,has alleged police inaction against a resident of Sector 15,Sita Ram who had allegedly thrashed Khan following his refusal to pay “gratification fees” of Rs 300 per week.

Khan on Wednesday came to the police headquarters with injuries on his eyes and back. He claimed that he was thrashed by Sita Ram.

“I sustained these injuries after Sita Ram beat me up. I had called the police following the incident. A PCR van took me the GMSH-16 and left me there. No case was registered and no action was taken by the police when I filed a complaint,” Khan said.

He also revealed a piece of information which he had acquired from an RTI (Right to Information) application. As per the RTI which Khan produced,as many as 12 criminal cases ranging from assault,cheating and the Excise Act have been registered against Sita Ram and 8 against his other family members.

Sita Ram had been booked by the police in fourteen cases in Police Station Sector 11. Out of these,in one of these cases,Sita Ram was acquitted by the local court,reveals the reply to the RTI application.

Khan on Wednesday met Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Headquarters,Krishan Kumar at the police headquarters in Sector 9. He told the DSP what allegedly happened. His case was transferred to the SHO,Sector 17 police station who then sent Khan to the Sector 11 police station in the evening.

“I have made all the efforts in vain. The police officials at the Sector 11 police station misbehaved with me,” Khan added.
