‘Unstable’ woman goes missing from Civil Hospital

The woman who was found in a semi-clad state on the Zirakpur-Kalka highway near the dividing of Sector 4 and Sector 11.

The woman who was found in a semi-clad state on the Zirakpur-Kalka highway near the dividing of Sector 4 and Sector 11 on Friday,went missing from the Civil Hospital,Sector 6,today. The police claim that she is mentally unstable.

Panchkula SP Maneesh Chaudhry said,“She was taken to the hospital along with a woman constable for medical examination on Friday. But she refused to get it done. We cannot force anyone to undergo a medical examination. Doctors have written to us that she has refused it.”

He added,“She was advised to be examined in the Psychiatry Department,which she also refused. Here also we cannot force her to take treatment. We would have shifted her to Nari Niketan today had she agreed. In the meantime,she slipped from the hospital.”

The police have registered a daily diary report of her going missing. Sector 5 Police Station SHO Inspector Om Parkash said,“She left the hospital on her own. We have not registered any case (of sexual assault).” Chaudhry added that she had not alleged any sexual assault. “But I decided that she should be medically examined,” he said.

He pointed out that the hospital was accountable for her going missing. The woman had told the police that she wanted to go to Ludhiana.

On Friday,some people spotted her at around 12:30 pm and informed the Sector 2 police post. A woman passer-by gave her some clothes.

ASI Ajay Disodia took her to the police post and carried out the preliminary investigations. The identity of the woman could not be established.
