Two watchmen found murdered in Barwala

Two construction site watchmen were murdered in Khatauli hamlet during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

Two construction site watchmen were murdered in Khatauli hamlet during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The victims have been identified as Mujeeb-ul-Rehman (19)

and his brother-in-law Ansar Ali,both residents of West Bengal.

The two victims were working with Arawali Infrapower,which has been charges with laying over head transmission lines from Himachal Pardesh to Barwala. The work site,where the murder took place,is located in an open field. A power house is under construction,some 300 meters away from the crime spot. At the work site,costly equipments had been stored by the company for laying the over head transmission lines.

Police informed that the double murder came to light when another watchman,Rafiq-ul-Islam,father of Mujeeb,visited the construction site around 9 am to relieve his son from night duty.

“We are trying to find the motive behind the murders,” said Station House Officer of Chandimandir police station,Inspector Jang Sheer Singh. Police said that iron rods were recovered from the scene and it looked like the duo were hit on the head by a group of assailants.

Rafiq said that he saw the duo in a pool of blood,“When I went in this morning,I found my son Mujeeb in a pool of blood. The body of Ansar was also close by.” Another labour,Riyaz-ul-Karim said that it looked like a group of robbers had attacked the duo after the watchmen had put up resistance. The deputy manger of Arawali Infrapower,Velusamai,alleged that some equipments was missing from the construction site. “We are yet to ascertain what has been stolen from the construction site,” he said.

The police,however,said that the assailants did not rob anything from the site. The bodies of the two watchmen were shifted to General hospital in the afternoon,where there postmortem will be conducted on Friday.

The local residents,meanwhile,expressed shock over the incident.
