Two suicides reported in city

Two cases of suicides involving minors were reported from the city on Thursday.

Two cases of suicides involving minors were reported from the city on Thursday.

A 13-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself in his house. The deceased has been identified as Arun,a student of Class V in Government School,Manimjara. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Police believe that the boy committed suicide on Wednesday.

As per police,Arun had been alone in the house for the past two days as his mother had gone to take care of his (Arun’s) ailing grandmother. His father,a taxi driver,had also not come home.

The incident came to light after a neighbourer decided to look for the boy as he had not come out of the house for the past two days. When she reached the house,the door was bolted from inside. She peeped inside the room through the broken window and found Arun.

Police have shifted the body to GMSH-16. The reason behind the extreme step is yet to be established,but the boy was reportedly not good in studies.

In a separate case,15-year-old Chayaa committed suicide by hanging herself at her uncle’s house in Sector 52 where she was staying along with her brother and sister. The incident took place in the afternoon,when the aunt of the deceased had gone to wash utensils. Chayaa bolted the room door and used a dupatta to hang herself . She was noticed hanging inside her room by a boy who raised an alarm.

Police had to cut the window grille to enable a boy to enter the room. The body has been taken to GMCH-32.

The father of the deceased in presently in a jail in Uttar Pradesh while her mother and three siblings also shifted to UP. No suicide note has been recovered. However,depression due to her family life is stated to be the reason behind the suicide.
