In two separate incidents,which put a question mark on safety of women in Haryana,two girls were gangraped in the last four days in Rewari.

In the incident that came to light on Saturday,the Rewari police registered a case against three unnamed accused for gangraping a 20-year-old girl.

According to the police,the victim,a resident of Mahendergarh,was visiting her maternal uncle in Rewari,when three youngsters abducted her at around 2.30 am from near the Fire Station turn in Rewari and raped her.

“The victim was returning from Narnaul and after getting off the night-service bus was walking towards the Fire Station turn where her uncle was to receive her.

“However,before she could reach the spot; two youngsters nabbed her while a third accomplice arrived on a motorcycle. They took her to a secluded spot and raped her. One of the accused later dumped her at the same spot,” Inspector Dhanpat Singh,Station House Officer of Rewari City police station said.

The SHO said that the girl’s medical examination was conducted following which a case was registered against three persons on charges of gangrape. “We hope to ascertain their identities soon”,he added.

The incident comes four days after 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted,taken to a building housing a tubewell farmhouse and repeatedly raped for two days by three persons in Dabri village on the outskirts of Rewari.

The girl,class XI student,who was subsequently dropped near Kumbhawas station here,managed to reach home on Monday night and informed her family members about the incident.

“We have booked three persons – Sonu Bagri,Hira Lal and Lala Yadav. All three are residents of Rewari and are absconding. We are conducting raids to nab them,” said Sub-Inspector Rajeshwar Kumar,Station House Officer,Sadar police station.

The two incidents come in the wake of numerous other incidents of crime against women that came to light in the recent past.

Earlier last month,a 19-year-old girl from Delhi,pursuing a degree in law at Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya in Sonepat,was abducted from near the campus by four men and gangraped.

Days later,a human rights body conducted a raid at a shelter home in Rohtak and rescued more than 100 inmates,including minor girls who were sexually abused,raped and even forced into prostitution by the shelter’s in-charge.
