TMC MP says scholarship to 5 PU girls will continue

Dr K D Singh,Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) has announced its decision to continue the scholarships for five meritorious girl students of Panjab University.

Celebrating the inclusion of Panjab University (PU) in the top 250 universities of the world in the Times Higher Education Survey for the session 2013-14,Dr K D Singh,Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and the Head,North India,of All India Trinamool Congress has announced its decision to continue the scholarships for five meritorious girl students of the university.

Congratulating the staff members and students of the university,Dr Singh has announced,in consultation with the university authorities,that he will institute full annual tuition fee scholarships for five meritorious and deserving under-graduate girl students of the university for the entire duration of their course.

“PU has made an impressive debut by becoming the highest-ranked Indian institution in Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings 2013-14. It is yet another feather in the cap of Panjab University,which has a long tradition of academic excellence,” Dr Singh said Saturday.

Dr Singh has expressed his desire to institute scholarships for meritorious and deserving women candidates pursuing development studies,women studies or peace studies,especially those in need,will be eligible for the scholarships on offer. However,the official approval from the university is yet to be taken.
