Theft reported from Sector 27-C

Chandigarh: A resident of Sector 27-C alleged that an unknown person on Friday stole Rs. 14,000 cash,a gold chain,two gold bangles and two gold rings from his house. According to the police,an unknown person stole the valuables of the complainant after breaking the lock of the front door of the house. A case in this regard has been registered at Sector 26 police station.

Man arrested for sexual harassment

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police on Friday arrested a resident of Phase-3,Bapu Dham Colony for allegedly trying to outrage the modesty of a woman in Phase 10. A case has been registered against the accused,Manoj (19),at the Sector 26 police station.

UT employees to stage dharna on Sept 10

CHANDIGARH: Employees of the Union Territory and municipal corporation registered their protest against the Administration for failing to meet their demands and announced a massive dharna to be organised on September 10,near electricity office,Sector 17. The protest will be organised under the banner of Federation of UT Employees and Workers,Chandigarh.

The demands include release of DA installment at the rate of eight per cent with effect from January 1,2013,linked as per price index but not linked with any pay scale. The federation also registered its protest against the imposition of Section 144 by the UT Administration. According to federation this was done with intention of curbing the voices of the workers. Leaders of the federation appealed to all the UT employees to participate in the protest.
