Telly star Angad Hasija on juggling different roles and his desire to participate in a reality dance show
He was appreciated in the role of mentally challenged Alekh on Star Pluss Bidaai and the shady dacoit Shankar on Phulwa (Colors). Now,Angad Hasija is making an impression on television as the stylish, arrogant and stubborn Aditya,Monas Sirji on Ram Milaye Jodi on Zee TV. I have been lucky,as Ive got to do different roles, says the actor who had to leave behind his Punjabi accent and work on the dialect spoken in Uttar Pradesh in Phulwa, and lose 15 kilos to lend a suave touch to his businessman persona on Ram Milaye Jodi, where he teams with Sara Khan after Bidaai.
The star of 50 Punjabi music videos, who is a qualified interior designer from National Institute of Fashion Design, was pursuing a career in interior designing with various projects in Chandigarh and Panchkula when his mother suggested a change in his profession. She was very keen that I take up modelling and get into the world of media, says Hasija, who was voted Mr Punjab seven years back and also bagged the Mr North title. He was in Chandigarh to celebrate Lohri with his family.
While walking the ramp came naturally to Panchkula-based Hasija,it was acting that he had to work on. Maintaining my body, looks, working on dialogues and dialect, everything was a challenge, says the actor who moved to Mumbai five years ago. The working hours were gruelling and long, but the 27-year-old took out time for regular workouts and acting classes at Kishore Namit Kapoors school. I like to give my 100 per cent to whatever I set my heart and mind to, says Hasija, who is now looking for an opportunity to dance in a reality show. I love to dance, its my weakness, and if Im offered a dance reality show,Im game for it. Films are on the cards too, says he.
