LUDHIANA: A mother and her son died in a road accident near Jawahar Singh Wala village in the Nihal Singhwala area of Moga district after the motorcycle,on which they were travelling,crashed into a car on Saturday. The mishap occurred at about six thirty in the morning when Kala Singh,a resident of Dalla village near Jagraon,and his mother Sukhdev Kaur were heading to Moga. Police said sixteen-year-old Kala was riding the motorcycle,which crashed into a Swift coming from the opposite side.
17 kg heroin worth Rs 85 crore seized
AMRITSAR: The 38 th battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized 17 kilogram of heroin,worth Rs 85 crore in the international market,from the Dera Baba Nanak sector in Gurdaspur district on Saturday. BSF also claimed to have recovered a magazine and four rounds along with a pipe,which was used to push the consignment to the India side,from the site.
Bluestar memorial work should stop
JALANDHAR: The BJP on Saturday said the ongoing work on the Operation Bluestar memorial should be stopped and urged the SAD patron and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to use his influence to this effect. Addressing the media here,the state BJP general secretary Kamal Sharma said,Badal Sahib has become the chief minister for fifth time and had influenced (the decisions) on many other issues earlier too. He should should use his influence to stop all such things which can disturb peace (in Punjab).
