Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday lashed out at CM Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly lying about his role in approving the construction of SYL.
In a press release issued to Jalandhar Media, Captain reiterated his challenge to Badal to swear before the Akal Takhat that he, as Chief Minister, had not cleared the file regarding the acquisition of land for the SYL in 1978. Reacting to Badal’s denial about having signed the file clearing land acquisition for SYL in Punjab, Capt Amarinder said, the facts and records cannot lie. “It is very much part of history and record that he signed the file”, he asserted. “Even his party’s general secretary admitted it publicly that Badal had signed the file and it was an ‘innocent mistake’ committed by him (Badal)”, he said.
