Stolen carbine: Third accused arrested from relatives’ house

UT Police on Wednesday arrested Deepak,the third person accused of stealing a carbine (official weapon) of a UT Police constable which was recovered by the police on February 20.

UT Police on Wednesday arrested Deepak,the third person accused of stealing a carbine (official weapon) of a UT Police constable which was recovered by the police on February 20.

Deepak was arrested by the police from Sector 30 on Wednesday after police officials received secret information that he will be visiting his relatives there. The accused was arrested today at about 3 pm.

Deepak,along with his friends Naresh and Gurwinder,had reportedly first beaten up a UT Police constable,Shalinder Singh,and then snatched his carbine.

Shalinder Singh was in an inebriated state and Naresh,with two of his friends,entered into a scuffle with him. The three beat the constable near the Sai Temple,Sector 29,snatched his carbine and fled from the spot.

While Naresh was arrested on February 20,Gurwinder,a resident of Sector 49 was arrested from his residence in Sector 49 on March 1. The three have been booked on charges of robbery,voluntarily causing hurt (392 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code) and under the Arms Act.
