According to a survey conducted by a student and teacher training organisation, social responsibility has been identified as the most emerging and upcoming trend in the city schools by the principals.
Among other emerging trends recognised by the organisation,The Transformers,in a meeting here on Saturday, were e-learning and saving the Earth. All these trends,no matter how much popular or not,are very important for the complete development of the students. But,schools have missed out one important trend here, which is,inclusive education. There is a great need to bring this about among children, especially from the backward sections of the society, into our education system said director of public instruction(s) Onkar Singh.
Various problems faced by the different age groups of students were also identified at the meeting, attended by more than 50 city school principals. Exam pressure and peer pressure remain to be the common problem for all the students, whereas students of higher classes were found to be vulnerable to drug and substance abuse.
The popularity of new ways of teaching, like e-learning,were also discussed at length. It is not that technology will replace classroom teaching, but teachers well-equipped with technology will eventually replace teachers without technology in the classrooms, said Vijay Kumar, regional director,DAV School.
