Snow in upper reaches of HP,temperature drops

After intermittent rain showers across the state and snowfall in higher reaches,including traces in tourist spots of Kufri and Narkanda in Shimla district,in the past 24 hours,there has been a considerable fall in temperature.

After intermittent rain showers across the state and snowfall in higher reaches,including traces in tourist spots of Kufri and Narkanda in Shimla district,in the past 24 hours,there has been a considerable fall in temperature.

Minimum and maximum temperature in Shimla today varied around 12.4 and 6.8 degrees Celsius and 7.2 centimeters rain was also received throughout Wednesday. Minimum temperature in Sundernagar in Mandi was 12.4,Bhuntar 10.2,Kalpa zero degree Celsius,Dharamshala 8.1 and Keylong 1.1 degrees Celsius. Rainfall of 23.6 cms was recorded in Dharamshala and 16.8 cms in Sundernagar.

Forecast for next 24 hours shows that rainfall can occur in isolated places and rain and snow can occur in a few places on the mid and high hills,said a spokesperson of the meteorological department at Shimla.

Manali experienced heavy snowfall over the last two days,with Solang Nallah,Kothi,and Gulaba valley getting over one foot of snow on Tuesday.

Commander S K Doon of the 38 BRTF,said Rahani Nallah,42 kilometres from here,has had more than 25 feet of snow and Rohtang Pass,too,is experiencing heavy snowfall. This has brought cheer to tourists.
