Six witnesses depose in Jyoti murder case

Statements of Madan Lal,PA to the Principal Secretary were recorded with five other witnesses. Two of them were police officers and the remaining were nodal officers of telecom companies.

Personal Assistant to the Principal Secretary,Home Department Government of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday deposed before the court of District and Sessions Judge Raj Kumar Sondhi in the Jyoti murder case.

Statements of Madan Lal,PA to the Principal Secretary were recorded with five other witnesses. Two of them were police officers and the remaining were nodal officers of telecom companies.

The two police officers were ASI Jaswinder and constable Balwinder Singh. Statements of the seventh witness,a constable from the Cyber Cell Siddharth who had compiled the reports on the telephonic conversations between the Doon MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary and 24-year-old Jyoti Kumari,could not be recorded. “Due to the inadequate preparation by the public prosecutor,the statements of the seventh witness could not be recorded in the court,” said defence counsel,Amandeep Bindra.

Hearing has been adjourned till November 12.

Ram Kumar Chaudhary and four others have been accused of killing Jyoti Kumari,a resident of Hoshiarpur who was found murdered in Sector 21,Panchkula. Son of former MLA Lajja Ram Chaudhary,he was elected to the Himachal Assembly from Doon constituency in Solan district.

Panchkula police chargesheet stated that since Jyoti was coming in the way of Chaudhary’s political career and had developed physical relationship with him,he eliminated her with the help of his aides.
