Six cases of sub-letting govt houses detected in UT drive

As many as six cases of sub-letting of government accommodation and four cases of misuse of accommodation for commercial purpose were detected during special drives conducted by the House Allotment Committee along with the Engineering Department.

As many as six cases of sub-letting of government accommodation and four cases of misuse of accommodation for commercial purpose were detected during special drives conducted by the House Allotment Committee along with the Engineering Department.

The inspection was conducted in sectors 20,23,24,27,28 and 29. Showcause notices will now be issued to the defaulters. As per the House Allotment Committee,in case of sub-letting or use of government accommodation for commercial purpose,the allotment of the house is liable to be cancelled.

Government employees guilty of sub-letting will be charged penal rent at the rate of fifty times the normal license fee from the date of cancellation of the allotment and the concerned employee will be liable for disciplinary action under relevant conduct rules.

The employees will also not be eligible for another government residence during their entire service period.

Similar drives will be carried out in the coming days. Complaints about misuse of government accommodation could also be forwarded to the office of XEN in Sector 16 or the superintendent of the house allotment committee in Sector 17.
