Riding high on Deepak’s all-round performance (22 runs and two wickets),Warrior Pirates recorded a fine 23-run win over Rangers in the quarterfinal match played during the ongoing Champions Cricket League-II at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh on Tuesday. Batting first,Warrior Pirates posted a total of 74 runs for the loss of nine wickets. In reply,Rangers were bundled out for 51 runs. In another quarterfinal match,Minerva Sharks beat Sai XI by seven runs to book their semis berth. Minerva Sharks scored a total of 88 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 10 overs. In reply,Sai team could score 81 runs,losing six wickets in 10 overs. From the Sharks team,Sonu bagged two wickets. Meanwhile,HDFC registered a 32-run win over Bushrangers in a match to surge ahead in the last four stage. On winning the toss,HDFC decided to bat first and scored 125 runs in 10 overs. Batting second,Bushrangers scored 125 runs in 10 overs. For the winning team,Charanjit Singh scored the highest 62 runs. In the last quarterfinal match,led by unbeaten knock from Bipul Sharma (49 no),Homeland XI beat Stallions by nine wickets to enter the semifinal stage. Stallions scored 91 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 12 overs. In reply,Homeland Xi achieved the target,losing one wicket.
