Middleman G S Brar, an accomplice of HCS officer Shilpi Pattar, who was arrested on graft charges by CBI, has moved an application in the CBI court of Chandigarh seeking bail. The CBI has been asked to reply in the bail application on October 21. The bail application of Brar mentioned that the chargesheet has been filed in the case and since there were 30 witnesses, it would take time for the trial to get completed. The bail application also mentioned that Brar is also not the prime accused who can tamper with the investigation of the case, so he may be granted bail.
Shilpi Pattar, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Chandigarh, her husband, Dheeraj and a middleman GS Brar, were held by CBI after the agency conducted a raid at her house on August 5.
The arrest was made following a property dispute between the complainant and his brother and the matter was listed for hearing in the court of the SDM (East), Chandigarh.
As per the complainant, the HCS officer, Pattar, through the middleman GS Brar had demanded Rs five lakh for de-sealing disputed property. The CBI left a trap and caught the private person (middleman) and the SDM while demanding and accepting the alleged bribe of Rs 75,000 as first installment. The CBI has filed the chargesheet against Shilpy’s husband Dheeraj Dutt, from whom the money was allegedly recovered, and GS Brar, the alleged middleman for criminal conspiracy.
