Sandeep Sr bags a hat-trick to help RCF Kapurthala reach semis

RCF Kapurthala got off to a brilliant start when Gagandeep sounded the board in the third minute of the game.

Sandeep Senior netted a brilliant hat-trick to help Rail Coach factory,Kapurthala eke-out a narrow 9-8 win over 3 Base Repair Depot,Chandigarh in the 11th Olympian Dharam Singh Memorial six-a-side hockey tournament being held at the Shivalik Public School astroturf ground on Wednesday. With this victory,RCF Kapurthala entered the semi-finals.

Earlier,RCF Kapurthala got off to a brilliant start when Gagandeep sounded the board in the third minute of the game. He soon doubled the team’s lead with a superb goal in the eight minute of the game. Sandeep Senior then scored three quick goals to complete his hat-trick and pile on kisery for the 3 BRD Chandigarh team. His first goal came in the tenth minute when he dribbled past several 3BRD defenders to score the team’s third goal. He was again on the scoresheet in the 19th minute while he completed his hat-trick in the 24th minute of the game.

In the meantime,Karanpal bamboozled the opposition defenders with his superb stickwork to bag a brace. He scored in the 19th and 22nd minutes of the game. Gurpreet was also on target as he consolidated RCF Kapurthala’s position with a superb finish in the 23rd minute. He rounded off the tally for the winners with another goal in the 30th minute.

However,the 3BRD team made a good recovery and nearly secured an upset victory but the RCF Kapurthala defenders held on to their nerves to help the team bag semis berth.

Meanwhile,Punjab Police overcame a resilient Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) side to beat them 7-6 in a hard-fought encounter. Rajpal Singh gave a flying start to the team by scoring two quick goals to put the Punjab Police side on top. He scored in the fourth and fifth minutes of the game. Satwinder then sounded board in the seventh minute as Punjab Police took a 3-0 lead inside the first ten minutes. Rajpal then scored another goal in the 12th minute to complete his hat-trick. Ajay Kumar then added another goal to the team’s total in the 21st minute of the goal. The unstoppable Rajpal was again on the scoresheet,this time in the 29th minute,to bag his fourth goal of the game.
