Saaniya tied fifth on Day Two

Chandigarh golfer Saaniya Sharma along with Vani Kapoor are joint fifth with total scores of 152 after two rounds while Sharmila Nicollet led the field with a score of 140 (71,69) at the close of second day’s play on the third leg of the Hero Women’s Pro golf tour 2013.

Chandigarh golfer Saaniya Sharma along with Vani Kapoor are joint fifth with total scores of 152 after two rounds while Sharmila Nicollet led the field with a score of 140 (71,69) at the close of second day’s play on the third leg of the Hero Women’s Pro golf tour 2013. Sharmila Nicollet made a strong comeback today to lead the field. Smriti Mehra (68,75) and Neha Tripathi (75,68) are tied second with identical scores of 143. The Rs. 500000 prize money event is being played at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club.

Sharmila who started off today trailing behind overnight leader Smriti Mehra by three shots made a strong comeback,finishing her day at one under 69 with three birdies on the 1st,8th and 14th and two bogeys on the 2nd and 7th holes.

Smriti Mehra,winner of the second leg and overnight leader,had an erratic day with three birdies (4th,8th ,12th),four bogeys (1st,7th,9th,11th) and two double bogeys (13th and 18th) to finish the day at five over 75 to be placed at the tied second position with Neha Tripathi with identical scores of 143. Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi played some consistent golf to finish her second round with the best individual score of the day of two under 68 with birdies on the 5th,11th and 18th and a solitary bogey on the 6th. Rani Sonti carded five over 75 and is placed fourth with a score of 148.
