The owner of a crockery shop in Sector 35 got a rude shock on Wednesday morning when he found that all the money from his shop’s cash locker was missing. The owners have alleged the involvement of their employee, who has been missing since Tuesday evening. The burglary came to light when the shop was opened on Wednesday morning at around 10 am.

Ghansyam Bansal, owner of the shop, while speaking to Newsline said,“We were shocked to find Rs 4 lakh in cash missing from the locker. The locks of the shop were intact and nothing else was missing. When we searched the building,we found the flex board put outside the shop had been torn apart and a hole had been created. A rope was found tied through the torn flex to the first floor godown door.”

He added that he suspected the role of their worker Vinay Kumar,a resident of Bundanpar in Panchkula, behind the theft. Vinay had gone from the shop without informing the owners on Tuesday evening and his phone has been switched off since then. Bansal claimed that they had kept the money from past week’s sales in the locker as their bank was in Sector 15.

The complainant suspect that Vinay hid himself in the shop on Tuesday evening and committed the theft during the night. However, police had doubts in the complainant’s claim that such a large amount was kept in the cash box without it being locked.

Police forensic teams inspected the site and have collected finger prints. A case of theft has been registered at the Sector 36 police station.
