Role of security personnel under lens for juvenile escape

The UT police have failed to trace the five juveniles who had escaped from the juvenile home in Sector 25 on Thursday.

The police have started investigation into the case and some internal security guards were also questioned in this connection.

A senior officer said the role of the security guards is under scanner. Sources said the juveniles who had escaped threatened the security personnel with iron rods and then fled after scaling the wall of the home. The officers said they are probing that how the juveniles got the iron rods inside the home.

A police officer told The Chandigarh Newsline that they are scrutinising the CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the juvenile home and they have also questioned some security guards in this connection.

The officers also questioned Sajjan, Chandkia, Bhupinder Singh and some other personnel who were on duty when the juveniles escaped.

A daily diary report (DDR) was also lodged in this connection by the police.
