Robbery of Rs 30 lakh in Panchkula,help among four booked

The Panchkula police on Sunday booked four persons for a robbery to the tune of Rs 30 lakh at a house in

Sector 8.

The prime accused has been identified as Tapan,the domestic help at the house,and the three others are said to be his relatives. A case of theft has been registered against all four of them at Sector 5 police station.

According to the police,the owner of the house,Vijay Jindal,had gone to attend a wedding along with his family on Saturday night. In their absence,Tapan,who has been working as a servant in the house for the past 15 years,stole Rs 17 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 13 lakh with the help of his three relatives.

All the four accused,who belong to Siliguri in West Bengal,have been absconding. They have been booked under Section 381 (theft by servant) of the Indian Penal Code.
