The Chandigarh administration on Thursday constituted a State Advisory Council to advise the state government on the implementation of the provision of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.
The council has been formed after the administration received a letter from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) regarding the same.
The newly-formed council will be for a period of two years from the date of notification. The council will also invite representation of other related departments when required.
The State Advisory Council of Union Territory will consist of 15 members, including the adviser to the UT administrator, the education secretary, the director higher education of Chandigarh, the chairperson of the Chandigarh Commission for protection of Child Rights and the director school education.
