A group christened the ‘Catalyst’ and comprising prominent residents of the city have joined hands in a “fight against the policies of the UT Administration”.

In the first meeting held on Sunday, the members rued the lack of transparency in the functioning of the Administration. The need for a Master Plan for the city was also discussed.

Former advocate general M L Sarin said the idea was mooted after former Chief Justice S S Sodhi, had a narrow escape during the recent terror attacks in Mumbai. “As he returned to the city,we started pondering over the security in our city. Other environmental, social and civic issues were also on our minds. We then decided to start such an initiative to ensure the smooth working of the system,” added Sarin.

Justice S S Sodhi said that while the Sukhna Lake is a prominent landmark in the city,multi-storey buildings are coming up in its vicinity.

The group holds environment and security as two of its major concerns.

The recommendations of the group,to be published as ‘Plain Language Guides’,will be discussed with the concerned authorities.
