In response to the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission inviting comments on the draft of the Haryana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Single Point to Group Housing Societies and Residential Colonies or Official/ Commercial cum Residential Complex of Employers / Developers) Regulations,2012 for public hearing, the House Owner’s Welfare Associations (Regd),Sector 20,have raised points of objection.

Following a signed bilateral agreement on society residents being provided individual connections directly by power utility, they say, unilateral decisions to change any clause of agreement or the scope or nature of supply is not sustainable in the eyes of the law.

Also, the proposed draft regulations forbidding consumers from taking direct connection from the distribution licensee is an infringement on the enabling provisions of the 2003 Electricity Act. They have expressed concern over the absence of trained staff for managing distribution systems, and that accidents may happen under a single power supply system.
