Congress leader and sitting MLA G S Bali on Sunday demanded that the government recover all dues, including a pending electricity bill of Rs 90 crore, from the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) which organised two IPL matches at the the Dharamshala cricket stadium recently.
Bali told newsmen at Kangra on Sunday that the HPCA was being given preferential treatment by the BJP government and officials of the state electricity board have not yet asked the organisation headed by MP Anurag Thakur to clear arrears of Rs 90 crore.
He alleged that no entertainment tax had been charged from the organisers. Charges for providing security through the district police at the IPL matches should be immediately recovered from the body,he added. Bali alleged that chaos at Dharamshala on Saturday during the match had resulted in people facing hardships .
On whether he supported the demand to ban the IPL,the Congress leader said: I am highlighting a different issue as the state, instead of gaining from such matches,is losing out. If the things are done as per rules, why should anyone object?
