PPCC CHIEF and Congress candidate from Gurdaspur for the upcoming Lok Sabha bypoll Sunil Jakhar Sunday questioned SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal’s silence on a rape case registered against his party colleague Sucha Singh Langah.

“Upholding the probity of the political and democratic process of the polls, Jakhar has urged the state government to take steps to remove a video that surfaced on social media Saturday as there was no place for such obscenity in Punjabi culture and ethos,” read a statement from Jakhar’s office.

Jakhar also targeted BJP candidate Swaran Singh Salaria for “defending” Langah. Salaria had said the case against Langah was “old” and it was being raked up owing to political vendetta. Jakhar addressed several party meetings in Batala. He also challenged Salaria to debate with him on GST, demonetisation, farmers, industry and unemployment.
