A five-wicket haul by Rajwinder Singh (5 for 98) and four wickets by Sarabjit Ladda (4 for 62) enabled Patiala team to record an innings and 28-run win over Amritsar in a Punjab Inter-District Cricket Championship for Katoch Shield played at Dhruv Pandove Stadium,Patiala.

Amritsar needed a miracle on the final day as they resumed their innings at 159 for 7 behind by 165 runs. The overnight pair of Aarsush Sabarwal and Vinay Choudhary shared a 112-run partnership for the eighth wicket before Sabharwal was trapped in front by left-arm spinner Rajwinder Singh at an individual score of 88 runs. During his 252-ball stay at the crease,Sabharwal smashed boundaries. With one wicket in his kitty on the final day,Rajwinder Singh had his tail up and the spinner soon removed Kamal Passi,who failed to trouble the scorers. Sarabjeet Ladda then joined the party when he removed Vinay Choudhary at an individual score of 65 runs as Amritsar lost the last three wickets without adding any score. Choudhary smashed six boundaried and one towering six during his knock. For Patiala,Rajwinder Singh claimed five wickets for 98 runs while Sarabjit Ladda grabbed four wickets for 62 runs. Patiala also gathered a bonus point with the win and the team now has 15 points from three matches.

Jalandhar claim three points

The second match of the day saw hosts Jalandhar playing a draw with Chandigarh at FC Sondhi Ground. Jalandhar got three points on the basis of the first innings lead while Chandigarh got one point. Resuming at their overnight total of 273 for 6,Chandigarh were restricted to a total of 305 runs in 121.1 overs. Gaurav Puri played a knock of 41 runs while Gaurav Gambhir contributed 14 runs. Chandigarh lost their last four wickets in the space of two runs. For the hosts,left-arm spinner Yogesh Kumar claimed five wickets for 78 runs while medium-pacer Navdeep Singh grabbed three wickets for 80 runs.

Jalandhar posted a total of 193 for 6 in 68 overs at the end of the day’s play. Skipper Taruwar Kohli remained unbeaten on 50 runs while Love Kumar contributed 37 runs. Anmol Luthat contributed 36 runs. For Chandigarh,Gurinder Singh picked three wickets for 70 runs while Gaurav Gambhir grabbed three wickets for 84 runs. Jalandhar now has 12 points from there matches.

Ludhiana gain 1st innings’ lead

A fine century by wicket-keeper Gitansh Khera (110) guided hosts Ludhiana to take a first innings lead of 46 runs against Mohali in a match being played at PAU,Ludhiana. After Mohali were bundled out for a first innings total of 202 runs in 60 runs,Ludhiana posted a total of 248 tuns in 89.5 overs in their first innings. Khera was the star of the day for Ludhiana as he played a knock of 110 runs off 149 balls. Khera smashed 11 boundaries and one six during his stay at the crease. Davinder Sidhu played a knock of 30 runs. For Mohali,left-arm spinner Varun Khanna claimed five wickets for 104 runs while Maninder Singh claimed two wickets for 18 runs. At the end of the day’s play,Mohali were 51 for 1 in 10 overs. Sunny Sohal was unbeaten on 20 while Gurpreet Mander made 25 runs.
