The announcement is likely to be made by Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal at his rally in Majitha on December 14. The party has already announced he would declare the party candidate to take on the revenue minister at the rally.

Shergill, who is already camping in Majitha segment, told The Indian express he was there preparing for Kejriwal’s rally. He said he was not scared to contesting against anyone. “I do not know who they are fielding. Kejriwal himself will make the announcement,” he said. A lawyer by profession, Shergill has been fighting cases against AAP leaders filed by Majithia in courts.

AAP has a very bitter relationship with Majithia who has sued Kejriwal and party affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh for criminal defamation after being accused of drug peddling by them. Earlier, AAP had announced that its senior leaders would be fielded against Akali and Congress heavyweights.

The party had fielded its crowd-puller MP Bhagwant Mann from Jalalabad, which is represented by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Junior Badal is yet to announce his candidature from Jalalabad. AAP’s co-incharge of Punjab affairs Jarnail Singh, a journalist-turned-politician who had hurled a shoe missile at former union minister P Chidambaram, is likely to take on Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal from Lambi, sources said.
