PU Professor to deliver lecture at international symposium in Europe
CHANDIGARH: Panjab University (PU) forensic scientist and Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Anthropology,Dr Kewal Krishan,will deliver a lecture at the 11th International Symposium on Forensic Sciences to be held in Bratislava,Slovak Republic from September 24-27. The Institute of Forensic Sciences,Bratislava,which is organising the international symposium has granted Dr Krishan the honour for his acclaimed research work in pedal evidence and its use in identification of criminals.
Dr Krishan will speak about pedal evidence and its use in personal identification and crime scene investigation. Pedal evidence is evidence related to the foot and its parts,which are generally left behind by criminals at the crime scene. This evidence is recovered in the form of footprints,shoes,slippers and shoe prints from the crime scenes.
PU dental institute welcomes freshers
CHANDIGARH: Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital,PU,conducted its second White Coat ceremony and induction programme for first year students of the 2013 batch for the Bachelors of Dental Studies (BDS) course on Friday.
The White Coat ceremony,conducted every year to educate freshers about their responsibilities,welcomes students to the profession of dentistry. Once they don their coats,the students are administered the dental oath. Guest of Honour,Director-Principal,Government Medical College and Hospital,Chandigarh,Dr Atul Sachdev,told students about the history of the coats,while congratulating the institute for starting the ceremony.
