The delay in results of final semester at Panjab University’s Department of Law has caused concern to the outgoing students. While the examination was held two months ago and the department had assured the students that the results would be declared in June, the students are still awaiting the results.

“There are a number of students in our department who have grabbed good job opportunities but are being asked to provide marks details. Unable to produce the marks certificates, the students are worried over the delay in their appointments. This has become a common trend at our department for the last few semesters,” said Lovneet Thakur,a student at the Law Department.

The department officials, however, said that the evaluation process usually consumed two months every year and it could not be called a delay. Chairperson of the department Nishtha Jaswal said,“This cannot really be called a delay since the examination branch takes as much time in evaluating results every year. We have assured the students that the results will be declared very soon.”

In March this year, high drama was witnessed outside the Law Department, when dozens of students staged protest over delay in declaration of results of first, third and fifth semesters. Classes were also disrupted for nearly 30 minutes and senior officials of PU had to intervene to control the situation.
