Panjab University (PU) has declared the admission and counselling schedule for MBA (off campus) admissions for the first semester of the 2013-14 session. The counselling for admissions will be conducted on September 13 in University School of Open Learning (USOL). Students must bring original documents for the counselling and refer to the website mbaoffcampuc.puchd.ac.in for details.
PU invites MPhil applications
PU has invited applications for admission to M Phil in the Department of Punjabi. Students have been asked to submit applications in the Department before 5 pm on September 20. Interview and counselling for M Phil (Punjabi) will be conducted on September 24 at 10 am,while interview and counselling for M Phil (Guru Granth Sahib Studies) will be held on September 26 at 10 am.

Man held for assault on woman
The Chandigarh Police on Wednesday arrested a resident of Sector 56 for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman at a bus stand in Sector 37. A case in this regard has been registered at Sector 39 police station.
Case of cheating registered at Sec-31
A resident of Sector 47-C alleged that an agent working for a shipping company cheated him of
Rs 4.6 lakh. According to the police,the complainant,Anil Kumar had paid the amount to agent Pawan Jadeja,after searching for a job on the internet in a shipping company. A case under Section 420 of the IPC and under Section 66-A of the IT Act has been registered at Sector 31 police station.
Two arrested for auto theft
The Chandigarh Police claim to have solved multiple cases of auto theft with the arrest of two persons allegedly involved in vehicle-theft cases. On September 6,the Crime Branch laid a trap near the Sector 48 turn and apprehended Ashok Kumar and Ramu. On investigation,it was revealed that both the accused used to steal vehicles and alloy-wheels of cars from different parts of the city,police said. Both the accused have been sent to 14 days judicial custody by a local court on Wednesday.
Man accuses business partner of cheating
A resident of Mohali alleged that his business partner cheated him of Rs 2.5 lakh. According to police,the complainant Hardeep Singh alleged his business partner,Ashoki Jindrain,opened a fake bank account in Chandigarh and illegally transacted Rs 2.5 lakh from the companys bank account. A case of cheating and fraud has been registered at the Sector 19 police station.
Faridkot man held for possession of weapons
The Chandigarh Police on Tuesday arrested a resident of Faridkot for allegedly carrying a .32 revolver and five live cartridges. According to police,the accused,Satwinder Singh had visited Sector 19 police station at around 9.30 pm after he was involved in an alleged brawl with his friends. Upon inspecting Satwinders car,parked outside the police station,arms were found,the police said. A case in this regard has been registered at the
Sector 19 police station.
