PU announces dept-wise allocation of hostel seats

As the process of admissions continues,Panjab University has declared the total number of hostel seats available for first-year students of various departments in the campus on Tuesday.

As the process of admissions continues,Panjab University has declared the total number of hostel seats available for first-year students of various departments in the campus on Tuesday.

The university has eight boys’ and eight girls’ hostels,with a new hostel for girls coming up in Sector 25. According to the data released,students of the first year of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the campus will get 1,532 seats in the hostels,out of which 774 seats are available in boys’ and 758 seats are available in girls’ hostels.

While the maximum number of seats have been allocated to the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET),the Department of French and Francophone studies has got the least number of seats.

The department-wise allocation of seats is done on the basis of the total number of students in the department. The complete allocation has also been uploaded on the official university website.

Students who have opted for hostels at the time of their admissions,can apply in their respective departments.

However,the seats in the hostels will be allocated as per the merit and reservation for various categories,as applicable in the specific hostels.
