Khalra Mission Organisation (KMO) today wrote to Chief Justice of Supreme Court and demanded a probe into the “fake police encounters and extra judicial killings” from 1978 to 1995 in Punjab. Referring to the Supreme Court notice on April 13,2012 to state governments for fake police encounters in the last 10 years,KMO said that the order may be good for other states but not for Punjab, where “human rights were taken for a ride on a massive scale from 1978 to 1995”.

Terming the compensation by the National Human Rights Commission for the families of 1,513 victims as split compensation,KMO said that the NHRC failed to identify the 546 people who were cremated without identification. “Did these people not belong to Punjab? There is no record for death of 259 persons and we urge the Supreme Court to probe the killings” KMO said.
