Papers by city’s leading architects chosen for a Le Corbusier seminar in USA

When it comes to understanding and implementing Le Corbusier’s ideologies, nobody does it better than architects of Chandigarh. A point that has once again been proved by city-based architects Archana Chaudhary,Praveer Goel, and Dr SS Bhatti. With their papers been selected by The School of Architecture,CET & Construction,Southern Polytechnic State University,Marietta,GA,USA,for a seminar on Le Corbusier: Architecture,Urbanism, and Theory. “We are the only three from the country and are among 26 others from across the world who have been selected,” Chaudhary smiles to say. She is all set to fly on February 26 for the two-day seminar.

While she’s an architect with Haryana Housing Board and has written on ‘Le Corbusier in India and his Influences on Modern Indian Architecture’,Praveer Goel of the Department of Architecture,Haryana, has deliberated on ‘The Role of Nature in Le Corbusier’s Work,Writing and,Legacy’. ‘Le Corbusier: Corroborative Evaluation of Three Scholars’ Critique of Chandigarh’ has been dealt with by Dr SS Bhatti.

Talking about Le Corbusier and his work,Chaudhary said that he transformed the image and status of architects as well as the architectural profession. “He inspired Indian architects who were struggling for a new identity to evolve a well-delineated style of their own. A fact that has helped us all be where we are today,” she adds, extending her thanks to the Haryana Chief Minister as well as S S Dhillon,Commissioner-cum-Secretary,Housing Department; Mahtab Singh,Chief Administrator,Housing Board Haryana and Mukesh Gupta for the opportunity. While Chaudhry is only one who will able to attend the seminar,Goel in his paper has talked about Le Corbusier’s unmatched contribution that lies in his incredibly comprehensive method of approach to the complex problems of modern architecture and urbanism. As for Dr Bhatti,it’s the conclusions of Chandigarh’s three main scholars,Norma Evenson,Madhu Sarin and Ravi Kalia, that he has spoken about. “My agreement or disagreement with their findings, coupled with my independent inferences paints an unexpected picture of Le Corbusier’s architectural creativity,” he sums up.
