Students in boys’ hostel no. 8 at the Panjab University (PU) today protested over the lack of proper WiFi network in the hostel.

The students said that the connectivity of the network has been poor since the beginning and authorities are not treating them at par with students in other hostels.

The hostel, situated in the south campus of PU (Sector 25),is still under construction.

The students state the construction work disrupts the wires, leading to fluctuation in the network.

Dean Student Welfare A S Ahluwalia said,“The two upper floors of the new hostel are under construction. There may be some disturbance due to that. The University is,however, planning to set up a centrally-operated Wi-Fi network this academic session. This will solve the problems of these students.”

At present, all the 16 hostels (eight each for boys and girls) have different WiFi access points. The unification is expected to solve these connectivity problems.
