A private bus ferrying elderly on a pilgrimage tour met with an accident when the bus driver accidentally fell asleep. Two of the occupants were killed after they fell out of the bus.

Raman Singh and Chattar Singh,residents of Joginder Nagar in Himachal Pradesh,were killed,and seventeen others were injured in the accident.

According to the police,the accident took place near Manak Tabra village on Saturday when the bus was on its way to Char Dham from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. When the bus reached the village,the driver accidentally fell asleep while driving. As a result the bus lost control and rammed into a tree,following which it fell into a dry pond. Due to the speed of the bus,three passengers reportedly fell out of the bus through the windows.

While two of the occupants who fell died on the spot,Chunni Devi was taken to Government Hospital,Sector 6,from where the doctors referred her to PGIMER,Chandigarh. Her condition is reported to be serious. The other injured were also admitted to the hospital. Bus driver Enam Khan fled from the spot. A case has been registered at the Raipur Rani Police Station.
