PGI resident wins Young Investigator Award

Dr Govind Benakatti,DM (Paediatric Critical Care) resident,Department of Paediatric Medicine,PGIMER,has been given the Young Investigator Award of the European Academy of Paediatrics on the occasion of the 4th Congress of the European Academy of Peadiatric Societies held in Istanbul,Turkey in October 2012.

Dr Govind Benakatti,DM (Paediatric Critical Care) resident,Department of Paediatric Medicine,PGIMER,has been given the Young Investigator Award of the European Academy of Paediatrics on the occasion of the 4th Congress of the European Academy of Peadiatric Societies held in Istanbul,Turkey in October 2012.

His research paper titled ‘Conventional vs Restrictive Maintenance Fluid Regime in Children With Septic Shock After Initial Resuscitation: A Randomized Controlled Trial’ for the first time establishes that excessive use of fluids during initial resuscitation of shock should be curtailed.

This work on fluid regime in children during initial resuscitation was done under the guidance of Prof Sunit Singhi in the Department of Paediatrics at Advanced Paediatric Centre,PGIMER,Chandigarh.
