PEC University holds 43rd convocation

On the occasion of the 43rd convocation of the PEC University of Technology,a total of 379 BE programme students,195 of ME and 6 students of PhD programme were awarded their degrees.

On the occasion of the 43rd convocation of the PEC University of Technology,a total of 379 BE programme students,195 of ME and 6 students of PhD programme were awarded their degrees.

Padma Vibhushan Man Mohan Sharma,co-chairperson,board of management,was the chief guest at the function. Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover and Education Secretary V K Singh were also present on the ocassion.

Addressing the convocation,Professor Sharma congratulated the students and suggested to the institute not to commit itself to scale-up doctoral programmes,apart from MTech,stating that it was all the more essential for imparting quality education at the BTech level. He urged graduating students to consider a career in ‘academia’. “Our academic world is seriously constrained by the lack of gifted teachers who can inspire a generation of students,and many of us can contribute towards this,” Sharma said.

An annual report of the university was also presented by Professor Manoj Arora,director,PEC,who informed that 256 out of the 306 eligible BE students of 2012-13 batch have been offered jobs through campus interviews conducted by 79 companies,and 82 ME students have also secured jobs through these interviews. In the year 2012-13,about 300 research papers were presented by the faculty in various national and international conferences and were published in various journals.
