PEC finally gets new director

The PEC University of Technology finally got a new director on Monday; Dr Manoj K Arora takes over from Dr Manoj Datta,whose term had expired on March 31.

The PEC University of Technology finally got a new director on Monday; Dr Manoj K Arora takes over from Dr Manoj Datta,whose term had expired on March 31. He was,however,asked by the UT Administration to continue till June 30. Dr Arora,before joining PEC,was a professor at IIT Roorkee. He is also an alumnus of PEC having graduated from the college in 1984.

Known for his research,Dr Manoj Arora did his PhD in remote sensing from the University of Wales UK. Dr Arora has been a recipient of more seven prestigious awards in research.

The new director said that being the head of a prestigious institute his focus will be on research. He said that PEC is an esteemed organization and have a great talent. PEC has to focus on research if it wants to compete at the national and international level.

Showing concerns for his institute,he said that he would be focusing on the inter-disciplinary research in the institute,would work to improve placements and will strive hard to establish centre for excellence.

Recalling the days he had spent on the PEC campus,the new director said that the food in his days used to be really nice and,he now as the head of the institute,he will definitely keep check on the hostels as well.
