Heavyweights Punjab Cricket Club (PCC) and Reliance-I will lock horns in the final of the 20th Edition of JP Atray Memorial cricket tournament to be played at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium under floodlights on Sunday. In the semifinal matches played on Saturday,PCC routed Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) by a massive margin of 147 runs while Reliance-I beat Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) by 49 runs to book their final berths.
In the first semifinal match played at St John’s School,Sector 26,PCC recorded a daunting 147-run win over MPCA. Batting posted a total of 242 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs. The main architects of the PCC innings were Sunny Sohal (74) and Sharad Loomba (59). The duo put on 127 runs for the fourth wicket to propel their team’s total. Thereafter,Gitansh Khera (34 no) and Siddharth Kaul (38) added 63 runs for the eighth wicket to enhance the total. For MPCA,Vijjit Rana (3 for 35) and C. K. Sakure (3 for 59) were the most successful bowlers. Chasing 242 runs was not a tough task for a team like MPCA who has had a good run in the tournament. But a fine spell from the in-form left-arm Rajwinder Singh (4 for 28) tilted the match in PCC’s favour. The MPCA team was skittled out for 95 runs in 31.1 overs. After the early damage done by Punjab pacer,Sandeep Sharma (2 for 19),spinners Rajwinder and Rahul Sharma tightened the noose around the MPCA batsmen with great affect.

CAG face defeat
In the second semifinal match played at the Sector Stadium,Reliance-I defeated CAG by 49 runs. Batting first reliance-I scored 201 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. Akashdeep Nath (59) and Yogesh Nagar (63 no) were the principal run-getters for Reliance-I. For CAG,Rohit Saini (3 for 36),Jatinder Billa (2 for 32) and Bipul Sharma (2 for 37) were the most successful bowlers. Chasing CAG were bowled out for 152 in 43.1 overs. CAG medium-pacer Pawan Sayal (4 for 38) and Pawan Negi (3 for 21) shared the spoils for Reliance-I.
