Patiala sees a reshuffling of officers ahead of polls

A new set of officers have taken charge of various posts in the Patiala district. While the new SSP Arpit Shukla joined on Monday,DIG S K Asthana took over his new assignment from P S Gill a few days ago.

A new set of officers have taken charge of various posts in the Patiala district. While the new SSP Arpit Shukla joined on Monday,DIG S K Asthana took over his new assignment from P S Gill a few days ago.

Patiala saw a new deputy commissioner in Deepinder Singh after Vikas Garg was shifted to Ludhiana.

Earlier,the royal city got a new Municipal Commissioner in Karamjit Singh Saran,after the government shifted out Harkesh Singh Sidhu within a span of three months.

Sidhu had been shifted out last week but his transfer orders were cancelled after Patiala Divisional Commissioner Jasbir Singh Bir failed to take the additional charge of Municipal Commissioner.

Two more PCS officers:ADC (Development) Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon has been shifted to Chandigarh while SDM Samana Tejinder Pal Singh Dhaliwal has been also been transferred. The district also got a new set of police officers as some SHOs have been shifted ahead of the Lok Sabha polls while a few DSPs are also likely to be moved out in the next round of transfers.

The newly-appointed Patiala SSP Arpit Shukla after joining office on Tuesday said he would look into the grievances of people and would do everything to solve the problems faced by the common man. “My priority would be to solve the problems of the people. I would ensure that all my officers in the district are available for the common man,” he said. He further added that he would make sure that there are no problems while registering FIRs and complaints. Shukla,an IPS officer,has earlier served as SP (Special Intelligence),SSP Ferozepur and SSP Jalandhar,before his posting to the royal city. Replying to a query on whether the transfer orders of various SHO rank officials ordered by previous SSP SK Asthana on the day of his transfer would remain intact,Shukla said that he would look into it. “I cannot comment on the conduct of my predecessor but will look into it,” he told mediapersons.
