More than two days after the Punjab chief minister constituted an SIT to probe the alleged murder of a 28-year-old married woman,Parampreet Kaur in Patiala, the former Patiala mayor Jaspal Singh Pardhan who is one of the accused in the case is yet to be questioned in the case.

The other two accused – the husband of the victim,Harpreet Singh, and her mother-in-law Paramjit Kaur have already been arrested by the police, and are being interrogated by the SIT.

“The mayor is not being questioned by the SIT and that puts a question mark on their investigations. They cannot even find him. If he is absconding from the police his son or other family members should be questioned by the police,” said Tejinder Singh Sodhi, the victim’s uncle.

The post mortem report of the victim handed over to the family states that Parampreet was strangulated to death. The body also had injury marks on the back. The post mortem report points towards the victim having been hit and later murdered.

The bhog ceremony of the victim was organised by the family on Wednesday. No one from the government, however, attended the ceremony.
