The Panjab University teaching departments have decided to upload the monthly attendance of the students on the online notice board.
The parents of the students would be informed to keep a tab on the attendance of their wards through the online notice boards of their respective departments.
The issue was discussed at a monthly chairpersons meeting of the university. Vice-chancellor Arun Kumar Grover presided over the meeting, which was attended by Dean University Instructions Dinesh K Gupta, registrar Colonel G S Chadha (Retd), officers, chairpersons, directors, coordinators of various teaching departments and institutions and campus deans.
Starting from this September, all the teaching departments would upload the cumulative monthly attendance of the students on the online notice board of the department. The attendance would be uploaded latest by 15th of every month.
The list would be regularly uploaded on the department online notice boards.
The parents of all the students would be informed that the details of the attendance of their wards would be regularly uploaded on the online notice boards of the departments.
The dossier on shortage of attendance carries the rules related to monitoring and calculation of shortage of attendance outlining the complete process of seeking donation of deficiency in attendance on the medical grounds or for participating in cultural, sports, academic activities.
Dean University Instructions Gupta asked the chairpersons to display the rules and the process of handling shortage of attendance on the online notice boards of the departments, so that the students could follow the guidelines.
The rules and the general guidelines have been duly notified on the PU website, he added.
In the meeting, Grover directed the chairpersons to implement reservation for SC, ST, BC and PwD in the PhD programmes.
