Around 4,000 police personnel will be deployed in the city on Sunday for smooth conduct of the MC elections. According to Chandigarh police officials, all the arrangements have been made and they are ready to deal with any exigency on the poll day.

“We have made fool-proof security arrangements in the city for the election day,” SP(city) Navdeep Singh Brar told Chandigarh Newsline. Providing details about the security arrangements, Brar said that all 445 polling booths will be manned by police personnel.
“Each polling booth will have atleast four police personnel deputed. Seven Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level officers will monitor the security arrangements in the city on Sunday,” he said. He further stated that all the 26 wards will have 26 police inspectors deployed and in the city more than 40 inspectors will be posted.
“We have covered all the buildings and the polling booths and security measures have been taken to deal with any exigency. Other than the police personnel deployed in all areas, we will have cops available at police station as well. Reserve policemen have been made available to deal with any situation,” Brar added.
A senior police official said that police teams will remain stationed at various areas so that in case of any need, they could rush to the spot quickly. “All arrangements have been made in such a way so that there is free, fair and peaceful election on Sunday,” the official said.
