First, they got the city driving to their little fair outside Chandigarh,in an obscure little town called Zirakpur. It seemed far and out of the comfort zone of easy-going Chandigarhians.
Nevertheless, entrepreneur Priya Jagat and her husband Abhay made it an annual fare. Then, the event became biannual held in March and October. Now,Vanity Fair at Jagats Whispering Willows is an awaited event, the place to shop and be seen at. Encouraged by the response, the couple decided to give the city a slice of the fair on a regular basis. So,Vanity Box,a nattily done up store of interiors, accessories and linen was conceptualised in the posh market of Sector 9.
Now,riding high on its success,Priya has opened doors to her home store The Vanity Box Studio in Sector 7,Chandigarh. An exclusive store for custom-made interior pieces,The Vanity Box Studio carries Priyas signature style a splash of European colours and fabric, reproductions of paintings in acrylic and oils, extravagant and stylish lamps and shades, bright cushions,a range of walnut wood side tables, inviting upholstered armchairs, individual showpieces, decorative items and customised pottery. Its all being made exclusively for this store. Ever since I started Vanity Fair, and then Vanity Box,my passion for interiors and styling homes has grown, and I decided to share it with the city. Chandigarh is in need of fashionable, contemporary and artistic interior stuff, says Priya.
Be it carved tables, boudoirs and consoles from Kashmir and Rajasthan or giant lamp bases from overseas, armchairs with fabric sourced from the UK,papier-mache work from Kashmir, limited edition pottery ware from Gurgaon The Vanity Box Studio qualifies for one look and,if the wallet allows,a bit of indulgence.
