One person died,while another was injured after a motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by a truck on Wednesday morning. According to police,Ranveer,a resident of Sector 43 died after he was hit by a truck and while the pillion rider was injured after their motorcycle was hit near old Panchkula chowk. Both were rushed to the local Sector 6 hospital.

The incident,police said,happened around 11: 30 am when the duo were travelling from Pinjore to Panchkula. The driver,identified as Singara Singh,fled from the spot and was later arrested in the evening from Zirakpur after police raided his residence. Locals informed the police about the incident after which a police party from Sector 7 police post arrived and cleared the blockade caused by the accident.

Police Incharge,Sector 7 police post,Gurmail Singh,said a case of rash and negligent driving had been registered against the truck driver.

Police said Ranveer was declared brought dead to the hospital,while his pillion is said to be stable.

Singh said,“The person who died is a resident of Chandigarh. His body was shifted to the Sector 6 hospital,where we got his post-mortem done. We informed the family members of the person,who took the body for last rites”.
