One dead, another injured in road accidents in Chandigarh

One person died while another was injured in two separate accidents in city in last 48 hours. In the first mishap, one pedestrian was injured after he was hit by a motorcycle near High Court Chowk, police said.

“A case under Section 279, 337 of the IPC has been registered in Police Station-3, on the statement of one Rajbir Singh, a resident of Bhiwani, against driver of the motorcycle who hit the complainant. He was injured and was admitted in GMSH-16. A probe has been launched in the case,” said a police statement.

In another incident, a 62-year-old pedestrian died after he was hit by a Xylo car at Bapu Dham Colony(BDC) in Sector 26 Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Ram Das, who was working as a barber and a resident of BDC. Police said that the accused driver has been arrested in the case. “He(deceased) was crossing the road when he was hit by the car. He was taken to GMSH for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries,” said a police official.
